A Resolution to Approve a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to Chapter 8 of the Fauquier County Comprehensive Plan Dealing With Rural Lands
Topic Description:
The Rural Lands Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan provides guidance in implementing the County's goals for growth management, conservation, farmland preservation and quality of life, while encouraging and balancing the economic aspects of the rural areas. This chapter was developed and adopted in the 1990s and has served the County for several decades.  Changing conditions now warrant an update to the plan to address the economic importance of the agricultural and rural economy. The Planning Commission held a public hearing on December 20, 2018 and decided not to act at that time, and to hold the public hearing open. Staff reformatted the draft and brought it back for a second public hearing on April 18, 2019. The Planning Commission voted 4 to 0 to forward the draft to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation of approval.
Requested Action:
Conduct the Public Hearing and consider adoption of the attached Resolution.
